Learn Chinese

Chinese writing is 25 percent phonetic compared to the 75 percent in English; it’s a one fourth chance you will get it wrong if you are guessing at the words from pronunciation.

This web page is for those who wish to have a jump start at learning Chinese.

Lesson One
第一课数字This lesson teaches you the basic pronunciation of Chinese numerals. The main focus students should be aware of for this particular lesson is the ability to pronounce the single digits 1 to 9 properly and combine any incremental digits by speaking them with ease. Daily examples in using numerals could be in asking for time, dates, quantities, or even negotiating prices in any of your business transactions.

Lesson  Two  第二课数字 -  This lesson focuses on the usage of numbers. New vocabulary is added to build on the usage of numerals of the first lesson. You can now combine single digit numbers with larger digits to form combinations of words. Imagine now being able to sell your goods for a designated amount. Now that is the power of commanding numbers.

Lesson  Three 第三课 时 刻 -  Ever wonder what time it is? You can now say ask or answer it in Chinese. This lesson offers the flexibility of speaking in Chinese in combination of units of time and numeric value.Mandarin Phonetics are beneficial.

Mandarin Phonetics:

Bo Po Mo Fo De Te Ne Le
Ge Ke He  ji Qi Xi
Zhi Chi Shi Ri  Zi Ci Si

  1. How are you? I am fine.
  2. Thank you. You are welcome.
  3. How much is it? It is 15 yuan.
